FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Wear Yaani started from a simple idea: buying something better, not just in price, but in how much the purchase does for the people who made it and for the planet. Below is how we choose what we stock, how the shop works, and what to do if something goes wrong. If your question isn't answered here, email hello@wearyaani.com.
About Wear Yaani
What is Wear Yaani?
A UK marketplace for sustainable products. We don't manufacture anything. We select small ethical brands and makers, list their products, and tell you who made them and what difference the product actually makes.
How do you choose which products to stock?
Every product has to pass two tests. It has to be genuinely better than the conventional version, whether that's plastic-free, organic, recycled or refillable. And we have to be able to explain why in plain terms on the product page. If we can't tell you what makes something better, we don't stock it.
I make sustainable products. Can I sell through Wear Yaani?
Yes, we're looking for new brands. Email hello@wearyaani.com with what you make and what makes it different.
Ordering and payment
How do I place an order?
Browse the shop, add what you want to your basket, and check out. You don't need an account.
What payment methods do you accept?
Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and all major cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club and UnionPay. You can also pay in instalments with Klarna or Shop Pay Instalments.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email hello@wearyaani.com as soon as you can with your order number. If the brand hasn't shipped it yet we can usually stop it. If it's already on its way, you can return it once it arrives.
Can I send something as a gift?
Some brands include a gift note or gift wrapping and some don't, since orders are packed by the makers themselves. Email hello@wearyaani.com before you order and we'll check with the brand for you.
Delivery
Who actually sends my order?
The brand that made the product sends it directly to you, rather than it coming from a warehouse. Your parcel comes from the people who made what's inside it.
Why has my order arrived in separate parcels?
If you've ordered from more than one brand, each one ships their own items. Parcels may arrive on different days, and nothing has gone wrong.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is charged per brand, in line with what it costs them to send it. Your total is shown at checkout before you pay. Orders over £40 are delivered free.
How long will it take?
Delivery times vary by brand and are shown on the product page. Most orders arrive within a week. Items that are made, embroidered or printed to order take longer, and this is noted before you buy.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Some brands ship internationally and some don't. Enter your address at checkout and you'll see which items can be sent to you. Customs charges and import duties are set by your own country and aren't included in what you pay us.
Returns and refunds
Can I return something?
Yes. You have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us you'd like to return it, and another 14 days to send it back. Items should be unused and in their original packaging.
How do I return something?
Email hello@wearyaani.com with your order number and what you'd like to return, and we'll send you the return address and instructions. Please don't send anything back before getting in touch, as items ship from different brands and go back to different places.
When will I get my refund?
Once the item is back with us or the brand, please allow up to 14 days for your refund.
My order arrived damaged or faulty. What now?
Email hello@wearyaani.com with a photo as soon as you notice, and we'll sort out a replacement or a refund. You don't need to have kept the packaging.
Is there anything I can't return?
Opened personal care items can't be returned for hygiene reasons. Personalised and made-to-order items can't be returned unless they're faulty. This is noted on the product page before you buy.
Sustainability and our standards
How do I know these products are actually sustainable?
Each product page says what makes that specific item better, rather than the shop making one broad claim about everything. Where a brand holds a certification, we name it. Where a product is only part of the way there, we say that too.
Are you certified?
Wear Yaani isn't certified itself. Several brands we stock are, including B Corp and organic certifications, and those are named on the relevant product pages.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Many are, and it's stated on the product page rather than assumed across the shop. Zao, for example, is certified organic, vegan, and listed as cruelty-free by PETA.
Is the packaging plastic-free?
Packaging comes from each brand, so it varies. We ask about it before stocking anything, and most of the brands we work with use plastic-free or recycled packaging.
What do I do with it when it's finished?
It depends on the product, and it's noted on each product page. Some items are home compostable, some are widely recyclable, and some brands take their own products back. Georganics runs a Zero-to-Landfill scheme for used oral care products, and KOOSHOO hair ties break down naturally because there's no plastic in them.
