This policy explains what personal information Wear Yaani collects, why, and what rights you have over it.
Wear Yaani is a trading name of Saif Musleh, a sole trader. For anything about your data, email hello@wearyaani.com.
What we collect
When you order: your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number if you provide one, and what you bought.
When you pay: payment is handled by Shopify and the provider you choose. We see that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of a card. We never see or store full card details.
When you browse: your IP address, browser and device type, which pages you visit and where you arrived from. This comes through cookies and similar technologies.
When you contact us or subscribe: your email address and whatever you choose to tell us.
Why we use it
To process and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
To handle returns, refunds and questions.
To send marketing emails, but only if you've asked for them. You can unsubscribe from any email, and we won't email you about anything else afterwards.
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
To meet legal obligations, including keeping order and tax records.
Our lawful bases
Processing your order and dealing with returns: because we need to, to perform our contract with you.
Marketing emails: because you consented.
Site analytics and preventing fraud: because we have a legitimate interest in running the shop properly, balanced against your rights.
Keeping records: because the law requires it.
Who we share it with
The brands we stock. When you order, we pass your name, delivery address and order details to the brand that makes the item, so they can send it to you. They use this only to fulfil your order. If your order includes items from more than one brand, each receives only what it needs for its own items.
Shopify, which runs the shop and stores order data on our behalf.
Payment providers, who process your payment.
Delivery companies, used by the brands to get your parcel to you.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing.
Where your data goes
Some of the companies above operate outside the UK. Where data is transferred outside the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
Wear Yaani is operated from outside the UK, so your data is accessed from there when we process your order or answer your email.
How long we keep it
Order records: six years, because tax law requires it.
Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe.
Emails you send us: two years, unless there's a reason to keep them longer.
Analytics data: as set by the tools we use, usually no more than 26 months.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, including keeping items in your basket and remembering your preferences.
We also use cookies for analytics and, where you've agreed, for advertising. You can change your choices at any time through the cookie preferences link in our footer.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your data, where we don't need to keep it
- Stop or limit how we use it
- Send your data to another provider
- Stop marketing emails, at any time
Email hello@wearyaani.com and we'll respond within one month.
If you think we've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Children
This shop isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
