Vurchoo Ethical Jewellery
Vurchoo was founded in 2015 by Alex Angel-Benscher, a former graffiti artist from Essex who now designs from Hertfordshire.
The idea came while he was travelling through Cambodia, watching street children selling things they'd made themselves. Real talent, nowhere to sell it. He came home, launched Vurchoo with support from the Prince's Trust, and began asking schoolchildren in disadvantaged communities around the world to draw whatever mattered most to them. Those drawings become the designs, and between 10 and 25% of the profits from each piece goes back to their schools.
What we like most is the honesty. When Vurchoo weren't certain that paying a premium for recycled silver was genuinely doing more good, they said so publicly and stepped back from the claim while they looked into it. That's rarer than it should be.
